Geometric Optics

Geometric Optics is designed to provide hands-on experience with mirrors and lenses, as well as how to measure image distances, focal length, and magnification.

Optics Experimental Review

What did we learn?

This assignment uses geometric optics concepts like: rays, lenses, mirrors, apertures, and image formation to build the intuition needed for physical optics material. By understanding how light travels and forms images in simple geometric terms, you start to see when the ray model works and when wave behavior (like diffraction and interference) becomes important. Some problems show the limits of geometric optics and develop understanding of light as a wave, how wavefronts propagate, and why physical-optics effects occur.
